This page lists STEP-BY-STEP instructions on how to build your R.E.Load™ bag and place an order. We hope you find it helpful.

Choose your model/size:

choose one of our stock sizes

would you like to have your bag made with custom dimensions other than those given for our stock models? That's fine; just give us the dimensions you would like. This service is $5 extra on top of the base price of the closest, LARGER model bag to your desired dimensions.

Choose an outside color:

For our Cordura® color palette, please refer to the materials page or click here.

For the Backpack, Midpack, you may request different colors for the front, back, pockets, and flap at no additional charge. For the DJ Mini, you may request different colors for the front, back/flap, and pockets, at no additional charge.

If you would like the flap of the bag to be one color, and the body of the bag to be another color, it is an extra $10.

If you would like multiple colors on the bag itself, and your design is easily communicated textually (ie. "Three-inch wide light white vertical stripe offset to the left"), just write what you would like us to do. If the design is more complicated, send us a picture via email (pdf, jpg or gif). It can be a drawing, photo or scanned image.

Choose your liner color:

A list of liner colors can be found on every bag model page as well as the materials page. If none is indicated, we will choose the liner color we think best goes with the bag.

Choose your velcro color:

A list of velcro colors can be found on every bag model page as well as the materials page. If none is indicated, we will use black velcro.

By default the backpack and midpack come with black velcro.

Choose your trim color:

A list of trim colors can be found on every bag model page as well as the materials page. If none is indicated, we will use black trim.

Choose your Cordura® base layer color:

If you are ordering a courier, civilian, small civilian, messenger mini, dj mini or micro mini, you can choose a color for your bag's base. If none is indicated, we will make the base the same color as the body of the bag. For our Cordura® color palette, please refer to the materials page or click here.

Choose the shoulder you would like the bag to rest on:

For about 90% of the population, this will be the left shoulder - the adjustment buckle for the main strap will be resting on your right hip. If you are opposite, choose the right shoulder. If none is indicated, we will make the bag for the left shoulder by default.

Choose your thread color:

A list of thread colors can be found on every bag model page as well as the materials page. If none is indicated, we will choose the thread color we think best goes with the bag.

STOP! At this point, if you are ordering a PLAIN MODEL BAG (no standard or custom add-ons), you are done!! Proceed to the SHOP area of our site and fill out our initial order form OR send us an email, to reloadeast@reloadbags.com, with your bag specs.

Outside pockets:

You may choose either double outside pockets or a single outside pocket, NOT BOTH. Specify a Cordura® color for the pocket(s), otherwise we will make them the outside color of your bag by default.

Ballistic nylon base:

Ballistic nylon is the toughest material option and is available only in black. On bags that come standard with a Cordura® base layer, the "upgrade" is only 5 bucks!

Removable laptop bag:

Please specify your laptop model and screen size. If your laptop is not a current Apple model, we will also need the dimensions of your laptop (width, height and depth). We will make the sleeve the appropriate size to fit your laptop based on the information you supply. You may also specify Cordura® colors for the laptop sleeve flap, body and pocket, as well as colors for the velcro, trim and thread. Please be aware this applies to Philly-style laptop sleeves only which is what we recommend for computer transport inside a R.E.Load bag. If no colors are specified, we will make your laptop sleeve all black.

Two clip-on 1" wide strips of highly reflective plastic for night missions.

Pen slots for inner pocket:

We can add 3 pen slots in your inside pocket for $3 extra.

Custom Options
These can be functional options such as pockets of varying sizes or in different locations, straps for securing certain items, etc. If you have a need for features other than those given in our standard options, let us know (please be specific!!!) and we can give you a quote for the extra work. You can also change the dimension(s) of your bag for an additional $5 per dimension. So, if you want your Small Civilian to be 13"H x 15"W x 6"D instead of the standard 12"H x 15"W x 6"D, just add $5 bucks to the price of your bag.

Custom Designs
There are a number of ways to communicate a custom design to us:

If it is something simple enough to be conveyed with words alone (ie. "three baby blue stars evenly spaced across the flap"), then you can just describe the design.

For more complex designs, we ask that you send us an email with an attachment in JPG FORMAT. Please keep in mind that we need to charge for all the work we do - this includes touching up and re-sizing your artwork. So the best way to send art is in exact size. The approximate areas for artwork, by model, are found below... there are two dimensions given; one for the artwork to fit between the buckles on the flap, and one for the artwork to span the entire flap.

Some general guidelines for custom artwork:

We are very skilled in applique/zig-zag stitching. However, there are some types of images that we simply cannot do. We need line drawings; intricate shading is not possible.

Remember that TWO colors are possible for simple shapes. For instance, if you ask for a green star, it can be stitched with baby blue thread, which will yield a green star with a baby blue border/outline. So please specify a zig-zag stitch color with your design. If none is specified, we will use the appropriate matching color.

For intricate patterns, you may of course specify a zig-zag stitch color for each different colored region.
